They met to discuss the Russo-Ukrainian War, which has been raging for over three years. Mutual respect seemed present between the two as they discussed possible peace terms for when the war ends. The outcome of this meeting was that no deal was made, and President Trump shifted his goal to achieve lasting peace, rather than a quick ceasefire. Through July, starting in the second half of the month, several key trade deals were finalized. Deals were made with the EU, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore. These trade deals were made in response to Trump's extension of the tariff deadline (from July 1 to August 1), announced on July 9.
